Hello! My name is Fareha. I was born and raised in Afghanistan and immigrated to the United States before starting my senior year of high school. I recently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology (emphasis in Cell Biology, Development and Physiology) and a minor in Global Poverty and Practice. As an undergrad, I studied the role of antioxidants and gut microbiome in detoxifying dietary toxins and improving life span using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism in the Whiteman Lab. After graduating, I joined the MacKenzie Lab at UCSF to follow my interest in maternal-fetal medicine and perinatal health. I hope to continue contributing to this field in my future career as a physician. In my free time, I love catching sunsets, watching Disney movies with my nieces, painting, and reading novels.
