Sacrococcygeal Teratomas
Elucidating the underlying biology of sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) and developing predictive biomarkers and targeted treatments.
Sacrococcygeal Teratomas (SCTs), which grow on the tailbone, are the most common tumor in fetuses and neonates. Although fetal and neonatal surgical removal can be successful, recurrences are not uncommon and we currently lack accurate biomarkers to predict recurrence. Our lab, in collaboration with the Laird lab, uses primary clinical samples to understand the biology of these tumors to elucidate their underlying biology and develop predictive biomarkers and targeted treatments.
